Business Operations

The Business Operations Departments assist and supervise the Trading and IT departments. These departments collectively develop our structure and future development and are key to the company’s success in the highly competitive and rapidly changing environment Optiver operates in.

Market structure

The Market structure department maintains Optiver's third party relationships and extends our networks in the financial industry. This department also plays a key role in setting up new activities and products on exchanges in our current and emerging markets.

Risk management

The Risk Department at Optiver monitors and controls the market and credit risk of all our trading activities in the region. By quantifying risk exposures, setting trading limits and developing risk models, they ensure that no position is over-exposed and helps ensure the viability of our company.

Research

Optiver's Research department plays an important role in improving current and developing new trading algorithms. We do this in close cooperation with the trading department. Suggestions may come from the traders, but the department also generates new ideas itself. We analyze these ideas and develop solutions or prototypes which are tested in close cooperation with the traders. Research plays a crucial role in maintaining and improving the leading status of Optiver amongst proprietary trading firms worldwide.

Financial & Credit analysis

The financial & credit risk department formulate and conduct analysis related to (operational) processes, markets, competitors and models, provide insights and advice on opportunities, risks and feasibilities, in cooperation with trading organisation and in line with the Optiver strategy, in order to enable management to take well founded decisions and minimise business or financial risks.

Finance

The Finance team manages all the financial and tax matters. This includes developing, maintaining and perfecting administrative processes and internal controls. The finance department ensures that financial reporting (exchange-regulatory-corporate-tax) obligations are met. They also deliver their financial knowledge to the back-office side of trading. Through unique and dynamic budgeting, forecasting and modelling techniques, the team manages Optiver's real financial position and monitors daily financial performance, thus giving Management a strategic and operational advantage.

Middle Office

Middle Office connects Optiver's front and back-end activities. Part of our risk monitoring area, the team oversees the trading activities, primarily dealing with position analysis, portfolio valuations and credit limits. It also provides support to the traders.

Compliance

The finance industry is a highly regulated entity. Our Compliance department is responsible for ensuring we adhere to all fiduciary and regulatory requirements as set down by the relevant monitoring bodies of each region in which we operate.

Legal

The Legal team attends to all of Optiver's legal issues. These include advising on general law, negotiating contractual obligations, reviewing and drafting legal agreements of all types (business acquisition, shareholders, unit holders, finance, confidentiality, employment, etc), advising on business structure issues and documenting any changes, assisting in the preparation of internal policies and liaising with external lawyers when necessary.

Tax

The tax department advises and supports management to ensure compliance of the business processes with relevant internal and external legislation and therewith mitigate fiscal risks.

Internal audit

The Internal Audit department is an independent, objective assurance and consulting department designed to add value and improve an organisation's operations. It Optiver accomplish its objectives by bringing a systematic, disciplined approach to evaluate and improve the effectiveness of operational risk management, control and governance processes.

Office support & Facility

The office support & facility teams perform service activities in order to provide the employees with services, as a precondition for the execution of their activities.

Human Resources

The HR department at Optiver has an extensive list of responsibilities. It currently focuses on recruitment and selection, training and development, performance management, mentoring programs, international transfer co-ordination, employee relations, Industrial Relations and Occupational Health.

Communications

The communications department is concerned with corporate branding and the presentation of Optiver to all target groups. Internal communications is also a crucial area of attention in a growing and professional organisation. The communication department sets the structure for effective communication with our colleagues all over the world.
