Senior Network Engineer

We are now scouting for a Senior Network Engineer to join our highly successful team.

What you’ll do

As a Network Systems Engineer, you’ll be responsible for designing, building and maintaining the network infrastructure. This infrastructure connects the three international Optiver locations in Chicago, Sydney, Amsterdam, and all major international financial parties and exchanges.

The information and data communication systems that enable Optiver’s administrative and trading processes are complex. You will be working on a network where the demands for network latency and robustness are at their highest. Your challenge will be to maintain these high standards in a rapidly changing global financial IT environment.

Tasks

• Design, build, test, implement and replace the network communication systems;
• Keep up to date with user demands and needs, and translate these into solutions;
• Create and monitor reports regarding network performance;
• Improve the existing infrastructure;
• Coach new employees about the standard methods used and keep these up –to date;
• Keep documents regarding the Optiver network up –to date;
• Participate in various IT project teams.

What you’ll need

• You have a Bachelor’s degree in an IT related study;
• Solid hands-on experience as a Network Specialist;
• Excellent knowledge of Cisco router and switches configuration (CCNP level);
• Excellent knowledge of TCP/IP, Multicast;
• Knowledge of security solutions with firewalls and IDS/IPS;
• Experience with implementation of complex infrastructure;
• Working knowledge of Data Network Support and Network Design;
• You must also be accurate, analytical, decisive, a team player and you must be able to work effectively under pressure.
