Bogdan

My name is Bogdan and I come from Bucharest, Romania. I studied Computer Science - at University of Maryland, USA (M.Sc.) and Vrije Universiteit, Amsterdam (Ph.D.) - before joining Optiver in August 2006.

At Optiver, I started working in the Performance Lab, measuring the speed of our trading infrastructure and finding ways to improve it. What I liked most about this work is that it requires a combination of rigorous scientific approach, hands-on attitude and a good deal of out-of-the-box thinking.

In January 2008, I was offered the opportunity to follow Optiver's training for Market Makers, and for the next six months I had a great time trading options! This experience has given me a good insight on how trading – Optiver style – works, which is tremendously useful with my current responsibilities as a Functional Architect, where I have to act as a link between the IT and trading sides of the company.

What I like most about working at Optiver is the dynamic environment and the "get the job done" attitude, where everybody is judged by their results, and not by their function title.

Optiver is a great place to develop professionally and take on new functions and responsibilities. Every day at work, you have the chance to learn something new, so it never gets boring!!!
